The MAP scores and progress reports for MAP testing were sent home with the students this past Monday. Please look over these together and let us know if you have any questions. They include both the fall and winter testing scores.
Also, the OCMS class recommendation forms were sent home today with the students. Again, the 6th grade teachers put a lot of thought into these recommendations and want to place each child where we feel he/she will be most successful and appropriately challenged. We wrote their Science, Math, Reading and Language MAP percentiles on the side for your reference. (Just a reminder: The Reading and Language scores written on the forms are from the fall because those were the most recent scores provided when I filled out the forms, then we had MAP testing for Science and Math, so those scores are actually from the winter testing session.) When recommending students for an accelerated course, I initialed beside both the accelerated and non-accelerated classes, so you will choose one of them, please. Please discuss the class recommendations with your child and initial beside the classes you would like your child to take next year. FORMS ARE DUE TO THE HOMEROOM TEACHER BY FEB. 22nd!
There is also an information letter attached from the middle school with important dates and reminders for you, which also includes guidelines that we follow when recommending students for middle school classes.
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns about middle school class recommendations. We want the transition to middle school to go smoothly, so we try to place each child in the classes that are appropriate for their individual readiness level. Thank you!
